” Shatter Port―Southern Art Criticism Initiative “ was launched by Taiwan Visual Art Archive (TVAA) in Tainan in 2021. It takes art criticism as the core and “constructs a dialogue platform” and “develops a series cooperation model” as methods. Construct a professional writing and practice platform with a full ecosystem of “art criticism writing-discourse practice-institutional connection”. After two years of hard work, Shatter Port has accumulated more than 40 articles so far, which have been compiled into an annual book.
The project was launched in view of the fact that most of the current art criticism production platforms are concentrated in Taipei and mostly from a Taipei-centric perspective, resulting in the homogenization of discussion views and the erasure of the differences and uniqueness of the local art ecology. Therefore, the project intends to break the geopolitical framework and reverse the “center-periphery” opposition through the writing concept of cosmopolitanism, so as to truly respond to the development of the current and future art ecology. This article first briefly summarizes the changes in the southern arts and cultural ecology in the past ten years, and then explains the situation of the two years of project promotion and the direction of continued improvement and development in the future.
