The Other Story II:The Art of Chishang & Pongso No Tao
” The Other Story II:The Art of Chishang & Pongso No Tao” is commissioned by the Taitung County Government and implemented by the Taiwan Visual Art Archive. It uses the perspective of “spatial turn” to observe the characteristics of the development of art in various regions of Taitung – South Link, urban areas, longitudinal valleys, east coast, and outlying islands, like a group of islands.
In Chishang, the joint management of art festivals, villages, art museums and local communities brought in by external teams has gradually shaped a unique contemporary rural literati aesthetics; Orchid Island, in the context of modern history, social struggle, and the special characteristics of marine culture Under the influence of nature, it has become the object of attention and response from previous painters, photographers, and contemporary art creators.
This book invites scholars such as Hsiao Chong-ray, Chiang Po-shin, and Chen Kuan-yu to write special articles on the art of the two places. It combines interviews with 10 art and literary workers, forum profiles and related chronology to present the heterogeneous coexistence of Taitung art. Through the results of the above-mentioned research and fieldwork, it can be seen that the two places that seem to be different actually have the power to re-discuss the “other” of local art. This is what this book has discovered through the continuous pursuit and exploration of ” The Other Story” connotation.
