Projects

Initiated by Arts Observer Field Archive (AOFA), this projects sets a new vision for art criticism outside of Taipei, connecting related art spaces, scholars, art critics, and curators in observing and writing on the local art ecology in Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung and the East Coast, constructing a comprehensive ecology of “review-medium (website)-art space” for a professional writing platform, showcasing different aspects of Taiwan contemporary art ecology. This project disrupts geopolitical frameworks, utilizing the concept of cosmopolitanism in writing art criticism, and reversing the stereotypical dualism of “center-periphery.” Starting from Southern art criticism, in pursuit beyond a local identity by exploring an art criticism ecosystem that combines local engagement and global vision in a non-Western context, and building the coordinates of our local art ecosystem in the urban cultures of the world.
