Online art review platform Arts Observer Field Archive (https://aofa.tw) was launched on May 21, 2011, gathering close to 200 articles from more than 50 researchers and creators from art history and art criticism, with observations of the development of art ecology in the nine years up until 2020, fostering freedom in criticism and thematic writing, with a focus on Tainan’s local art spaces and art ecology, discussing the influence of contemporary art criticism on the community and the praxis and documentation of alternative art, liberating art criticism from commercial and authoritative writing. This publication plan not only reviews the developmental path, but places the inquiry “What is art criticism, and what is the possibility of experimental art criticism” from an angle of structural planning in its publication.
