The Imperceptible Shimmer: Art Collection Research. Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City
The Hsinchu City Cultural Bureau takes the Hsinchu City Art Museum as an important starting point for promoting visual art, and its collection of art collections has reached 416 pieces. What are the important artists, groups and representative works of art in Hsinchu? What are the local characteristics of Hsinchu art? In the context of art history, this book invites three essays from three contemporary perspectives: “Freehand Hsinchu: the cultural heritage of calligraphy and painting”, “Creating Hsinchu: the sense of place-shaping presence”, and “Tracing Hsinchu: craftsmanship as a memory device” Research the article, compile a chronology, and experience the deep and unique “hidden light” of Hsinchu art through “freehand brushwork”, “creating environment” and “tracing”.
This book starts from the collection of Hsinchu City Art Museum, selects and analyzes 50 works in the collection, and extends it to modern and contemporary works from or related to Hsinchu. It conducts in-depth interviews with potential artists or collectors to explore Hsinchu art as a whole. Its context and aesthetic characteristics, especially how art/technology share local memories with local life forms. The publication of this book hopes to achieve a phased improvement of the collection system of the Hsinchu City Art Museum, to propose the possible future collection strategies and development vision of the Art Museum, and to provide a reference context and direction for the development of Hsinchu Art Collection.
